Hello Everyone,
I have recently begun positive affirmations as a way of improving my thought habits and life. I believe they work not because they have yet but because I have seen how much power one thought can have to disstort emotions or lead to other thoughts and I want to take back control of my own mind and hopefully subconscious too! Or as I should say, “I take back control of my mind and subconscious and I am at one and at peace with my thoughts.” I would tell you more about what has inspired me to join this community and begin doing/using positive affirmations but I don’t want to write about negitive thoughts as writing affirmations is likely more powerful that thinking them :-)
Anyway, glad to have found this site to support me with my exploration of the power of affirmations.

I think my affirmations are working! I feel my attitude towards life has improved alot over the last week and my mind feels freer from any negitive thoughts I had before. I did not realise how quickly affirmations to begin to work and it makes me interested to find out what longer-term benefit they may have :-)
The affirmations I have been saying have worked in ways I did not expect as well. I wanted to improve the way I think which has begun to happen. But I have also felt motivated to challenge myself to improve my lifestyle e.g. I like cheese and eat a bit too much of it. About 10 days ago I suddenly decided to challenge myself to not eat any cheese or any food with cheese in until December 1st. So far, I have managed to do this and with ease. I think saying affirmation about healthy diet, good lifestyle and also believing I can achieve anything I put my mind to has given me the will and strength to do this.
Affirmations work!
In response to pink cupcake’s comment: Hello pink cupcake. Thanks for you message. It is December 1st today so I can finally eat some cheese again :-) I don’t actually feel a great need to eat any though which is good. I looked at your profile and noticed you read Louise L. Hay’s books. I have only recently begun doing positive affirmations and the first book I bought on the subject is by Louise Hay. It’s called “Experience Your Good Now!” Have you read it? It comes with a CD. I have found the CD very useful and listen to it more than I read the book.
xx
Other books I have by Louise Hay are “You Can Heal Your Life” and “The Power is Within You”.
There is an exercise in “You Can Heal Your Life” where Louise encourages you to say “I approve of myself” 300/400 times a day for a month. I have done this before but Ive never done a full month so this time I intend to use this affrimation for the whole of December.
Louise Hay says that saying this affirmation will bring up everything in opposition to it so you can get negative thoughts out of your mind.
When negative thoughts come up like “how can I approve of myself when Im fat” or “im no good” you can take mental control by saying “I approve of myself” or whatever phrase you wish to use.
The way I see it its a way of changing our oppinions about ourselves from positive to negative.
Sounds useful, I will try it. I have found today a bit more difficult to stay on track with my positive affirmations as a few stressful things have made my mind wander down the negitive route so tomorrow I am going to make a bigger effort to focus on doing the positive affirmations more regularly again :-)
In response to flowergirl’s comment: Hello flowergirl. I have only just seen your message. Yes I have found Louise Hay very good and have now read ‘You can create an exceptional life’ by her L. Hay and Cheryl Richardson which is really good. I also bought ‘Hear Thoughts’ by Louise Hay has loads of great affirmations in it. I am trying to find other autors but Ii haven’t found another one yet with uch as great writing style as L. Hay.
How are your affirmations going?
In response to flowergirl’s comment: Hiya, I feel my positive affirmations have improved my general mindset however, now i think i need to start focusing them more on specific goals. For example, I didn’t get a job I went to an interview for last week but I’m trying not to dwell on that and am now trying to find good success/prosperity affirmations.
I like that affirmation you have been using as it is easy to use because it is short and simple. I will try using that one as well.
Doing affirmations regularly and consistantly can be a bit challenging sometimes especially but that’s one reason why I am finding this site helpful in refocusing my mind on affirmations.
Good luck with ur affirmations.
Katy
