★Found a Music Thread That was Bare

[I have a tendency to repeat music on threads…because I’m repetitious of what I enjoy…please help find some new tunes that are also love-able(: ]music.png

MUSIC thread from 2010 that was bare… I’ll add some of my preferences to remedy that(: Feel free to add if you choose.

Life Less Ordinary

Good one! I got to see Willie a couple of months ago here in my home town. That song was one of the main reasons I went.

Music that inspired me late 70,s early 80,s

Mara, I have to add David Bowie’s Man who Sold the World
And Serenity – I dig Murray Head. Nice stuff.
That title made me think of Billy Joel’s Los Angelenos
and that made me think of New York State of Mind
and THAT made me think of Summer, Highland Falls which is one of my favorite Joel tunes, though it’s not one you ever hear anywhere.

Summer, Highland Falls
by Billy Joel

They say that these are not the best of times,
But they’re the only times I’ve ever known,
And I believe there is a time for meditation in cathedrals of our own.
Now I have seen that sad surrender in my lover’s eyes,
And I can only stand apart and sympathize.

For we are always what our situations hand us…
It’s either sadness or euphoria.
And so we argue and we compromise,
And realize that nothing’s ever changed,
For all our mutual experience, our seperate conclusions are the same.

Now we are forced to recognize our inhumanity,
Our reason co-exists with our insanity.
And though we choose between reality and madness…
It’s either sadness or euphoria.

How thoughtlessly we dissipate our energies
Perhaps we don’t fulfill each other’s fantasies.
And as we stand upon the ledges of our lives,
With our respective similarities…
It’s either sadness or euphoria.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.
— Gandalf, J.R.R. Tolkien

I Like The Things About Me

by Mavis Staples from the new album ‘One True Vine’

She’s cool. Never heard of her before. Isn’t it amazing how many wonderful artists there are out there. The sad part is that there is so much great stuff we’ll never get to hear, but would LOVE if we knew only knew it. I’m gonna’ try to think up some obscure gems.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.
