Some of the music threads really get long so I thought I’d add yet another one. I wish I could think of a good way to organize this stuff. Anywho, let’s start, shall we?
Eric Johnson Desert Rose
Stanley Jordan Stairway to Heaven
Pat Metheny The Truth Will Always Be
Yngwie Malmsteen Far Beyond the Sun
Here’s a nice little video for an inspiring song.
John Parr’s Man in Motion
Some of you in foreign countries and you younger folks may not have ever heard this, but once upon a time it was a huge, huge hit in the U.S.
Convoy
This one will make some of you run screaming for the door.
You Never Even Called Me By My Name
Here’s another classic.
Set ‘em Up Joe
Anyone pulling their hair out yet? I love it!
He Stopped Lovin’ Her Today
I’m so pleased that you put links to all the threads. This seems like a good idea. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to dig through old threads to find something. Kudo’s to you, Laurie.
I just happened across this and I thought I’d post it ‘cause The Break-Up is a great movie and Jennifer Aniston is the most beautiful ever to have walked this planet and ‘cause Evanescence is from Arkansas.
Not sure of the title of this
I happened upon this little gem when I was looking up a scene from the movie. This wasn’t in the movie, but the music is beautiful. What a great arrangement.
Rainbow Connection performed by Tone Rangers in The Break-Up
Don’t know why this crossed my mind, (actually I do, but I don’t wanna’ go into it). Who could have forseen John Travolta’s rise to stardom?
Welcome Back Kotter
As long as I’m on old shows here’s a great theme from the legendary Bob James.
Taxi
Mike Post is certainly no slouch either.
Hill Street Blues
L.A. Law
(reminds me of Bill Conti a little)
The Rockford Files
Mike Post and Pete Carpenter wrote that one.
More great and memorable themes.
SWAT
Mannix
A guy named Patrick Williams wrote this cool tune. (I had to look it up.)
The Streets of San Francisco
Stu Phillips wrote the theme to Buck Rogers
I actually had the album. I listened to it many, many times.
Battlestar Galactica
is a pretty classic fanfare type of piece. I’m not sure who wrote it though.
This is a beautiful and inspiring song from the Star Trek Enterprise television series. It’s is really uplifting. Give it a listen if you’ve never heard it. Faith of the Heart
Speaking of Star Trek
I’m still amazed by this piece of music. How completely original. I don’t say that lightly folks. This in a pretty unique composition.

What does your music collection at home look like? Must be amazing!!!!
It used to be, I gotta’ tell ya. I lost sooooooooooooo much music in the fire a few years back.

What I want to learn from you is how to (inexpensively), save music. I am so behind!!!
Do you mean how to save music digitally on your computer?
I miss LP records and 45’s. I know CD’s are great, but I miss my old turntable. There is a certain tactile feeling that you get from laying the needle on the record and laying on the floor and reading all the liner notes on a record sleeve. The art on a cd just doesn’t do it like the art on an lp, does it? Also there is something to be said for just holding and feeling the record sleeve as the music carries you. Kids wouldn’t understand. The same as with books. Sometimes I like to just hold a book and feel of it. Feel the pages and the binding and fanning the pages with my thumb. There’s something special about that to me. Anyone else ever feel like that?
Here is one way to convert old records to digital files. I don’t have one, but I think it looks cool. I think you can get them pretty cheap now.
