1. Fresh Eyes:, works for me, and I rarely see you bmindfulers over there, so what is jump-starting your healthy focus today?
I like to look at my day with health, enthusiasm, direction and empowerment, by consciously and subconsciously focusing all of my senses with a prayer-type affirmation! That is the reason I more often than not, go to the Fresh Eyes thread first. That is where I affirm my day or eve in advance. On that thread, by telling myself and “getting it out there” that I’m expecting the best, I have a higher probability that I will be celebrating my day before, during and after my day or eve ends.
I would love to hear your healthy directional course for the day.
2. What types of things in your life do you do, to create focus for the best of the best??Meaning- Share whatever it is you do. Do you write your day in advance and or is it some other routine that jumpstarts you with your life each day?

I’ll start in re: to attitude, I live life w/an “act as if” mentality. it prepares me for opportunity.
I write my affirmation in Fresh Eyes thread.
I include healthy meal planning/preparing & exercise in my life.
One of the things I’m working on currently, is keeping my basics structured enough so I can involve myself with more outside-of the box thinking for-> a more comfortable present my day to day finances, and a future that I don’t have to worry about.

My great day – which I affirm is today, entails doing my best at work today no matter how tedious the task. Eating a piece or two of fresh fruit every couple of hours throughout the entire day – in place of breakfast or lunch and sipping on refreshing herbal teas to energise me – in place of my usual morning coffee! Sipping water in between also- and lots of running up and downstairs to the loo! After work, going for a bike ride in the wonderful sunshine with my loved one and having a sensible meal containing all the food groups that I may have missed during my ‘detox’ day. Perhaps grilled salmon, noodles and stir fry veg….
I feel better just for affirming it!

Loved reading that, Anoushka! That is helpful/encouraging to me as well(:
I changed the wording a bit of my initial thread-post Though all you said still fits beautifully. I so want to know if bmindfulers don’t write out their affirmations in advance, what is it that gets them going?
Anoushka, is writing out your affirmations in advance something you do daily? And or, is there something else you’ve found that jumpstarts your day?

Since my husband started travelling…let’s see… how long has it been? March…going on three months… my routine has been blasted out of the water – and especially now that the kids are home from elementary school and my oldest son is visiting in between sessions. I have to recommit my time so that I see the results I desire. It is probably time to get my 3 × 5 cards out and focus again.
One of my favorite things to do is to get a couple hours of alone time (difficult for me) and just do a huge session of self improvement thinking. I like to write out all my ideas of what areas I want to improve, stay the same (don’t lose ground), etc. I organize them into themes and put them into affirmation form on color-coded 3 × 5 cards. Then, each day, I can pick a theme to work on and focus on one or two affirmations. I’ve decided to add to them and get some visual aids to print from my computer and glue to the back of the cards.
However, one of my my important routines is that I must do the affirmations in a 100% clutter-free room that is visually. aromatically, and audio pleasing. I have my favorite candles or incense going and soothing instrumental music playing.
This keeps my mind from wandering… oh, look at the pile of clothes in the hamper, I must do laundry. Yuck, is that a dust bunny on the ceiling fan??? You know, that adult ADD thing that the brain can do instead of concentrate on the important task at hand….
In my house, my bedroom is my “safe room”. I try to keep it in pristine condition. No shoes in the room. No kids toys. No newspapers, magazines, etc… It is the room where I relax before bed. It is the room where I develop most of my life-affirming ideas. It must be conducive to productive, yet safe thinking and living. Whenever life gets too much for me, it is the place where I run to in order to unwind and regroup. I think everyone should have a “safe room” in their abode. Maybe you call it your “meditating room”… it doesn’t matter the name… just the function!!
I am living in many dimensions at once; the appearance of being trapped in time and space is only an illusion.

Love your post and your creativity. I love all of your color coding. That works with me too. My senses often get on overload, and I’m always revising ways to focus on Today. Color coding is so creative and sensible. Thanks for reinforcing my desire to keep up with using color.I’m a 3×5 gal too(: Though again, I’m always inspired by your creativity and your cookbook-type instructions. And I mean that 100% as a compliment!(:
I don’t have a house full of children, though I’m around alot of people at work, with challenging tasks in the midst (with and for others).I love my hubby and love when he is home, though when his schedule has him at work, I am ultra focused on big-picture of living for myself, about him, and about us. And then I have more to bring to the table for me, for him, and for us(:
I have an ongoing clutter free project. It’s a job, though I love the results. I miss having just a bit more space. I will not get rid of most of my books. Though, I continue to look through them to see which books have reduntant ideas. And maybe they’ll be a good find for someone else(:
I’ve recently added plants to my world again, and forgot what an orderly feel they give off. My place is a place in process, because of all of the changes I’m working on in here. If I waited for the look that makes me feel the best to do affirmations, I don’t think I’d be using my affirmations (smiles).
I haven’t found any candle scents or incense that don’t bother me. As I’ve gotten older, my sense of smell likes only natural air; ocean, flowers etc) Tell me what you use, maybe I’m missing out, and have tried the wrong types. Or not(: Which music do you enjoy? Music is a must for me too, depending on mood->I chose.
Anyway, thanks for your delightful inspiring refreshing post!

Thank you for your kind words!
You know, I do natural things for aroma therapy in the kitchen that work nicely. I like to boil water with whole cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice… that whole earthy, sweet aroma. It is so nice to have the kitchen smell like your baking! :)
For the bedroom, my husband usually brings back really awesome fragrant incense sticks that are probably frankincense – not sure. He always changes and they all smell perfect for me.
I haven’t had good luck with “real” plants. However, I like to bring in fresh bouquets for my table. My preference is for potted flowering plants, but it doesn’t always work out that way.
My favorite music is my “Yoga” music like Deva Premall & Miten. Here is a clip example

In response to Laurie:
Actually yes and no – because in this case I was not actually affirming per se. I was actually telling you what I had done so far and what I was planning to to when I got home. I did have my long bike ride – feel a bit sore today! But in a good way! The rest I had in place already – the detox etc.
When I am looking ahead at a difficult or testing day I read a bit from your thread ‘Fresh eyes’ for hope and wisdom and guidance in creating my own affirmations for that day. Generally my affirmations are a prayer for a great day no matter what life throws at me, but on certain days I have specifics that I address….specifically. For example, I have something to bring up at work/in relationship/with my mother etc and not sure how to approach the matter. I ask myself, is it necessary? if so, how can I say this in a kind way and be heard – and so my affirmations stem from that, be it a work related or personal issue that I have to address.
Another little ‘routine’ or ‘thing’ I like to do when faced with a situation I feel is difficult at the time….I go to the ladies room, close the door, get on my knees and ask God for strength…..You are now thinking I am a total ‘fruit-loop’ – but you know what, it really works for me – not least because it makes me STOP and BREATHE for a second or two!
Hope I havent strayed the the path of the thread….?
Sorry if I have.

LOVE the aroma idea. I love evocative smells. I will try that. Im sure it enhances mood, memory and relaxation…..Such a wonderful idea….plus I love your choice of aromats. Cinnamon, all spice, cloves bubbling away in the kitchen – sounds like my idea of a warm hug!
Good to have you back!

In response to anoushka_f’s post:
Anoushka I kind of got that. I just wasn’t sure, because I didn’t feel I had worded my thread well enough. I didn’t want anyone to think it was just a fresh page to continue the fresh eyes thread.
And I never think you’re a “fruitloop” (: I know you’re wonderful!

History Starts Now
Got a package full of wishes
A time machine, a magic wand
A globe made out of gold
No instructions or commandments,
Laws of gravity or indecision to uphold
Printed on the box I see: ACME’s Build a World to Be.
Take a chance, grab a piece
Help me to believe it
What kind of world do you want
Think anything
Lets start at the start
Build a masterpiece
Be careful what you wish for
History starts now
Should there be people or peoples
Money, funny pedestals
For fools who never pay
Raise your army, choose your steeple
Dont be shy, the satellites can look the other way
Lose the earthquakes, keep the faults
Fill the oceans without the salt
Let every man own his own hand.
Can you dig it baby?
What kind of world do you want
Think anything
Lets start at the start
Build a masterpiece
Be careful what you wish for
History starts now
Sunlights on the bridge
Sunlights on the way
Tomorrows calling
Theres more to this than love
What kind of world do you want
Think anything
Let’s start at the start
Build a masterpiece
History starts now
Starts now
Be careful what you wish for
Start now
