Healthy – Fruits, almost any kind. I like carrot sticks.

Unhealthy – Ice Cream, All kinds of chips.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

What are your favorite cookies?

My favorite snacks are Sunmaid raisins. Perfect little sugar fix.
Macadamia nuts – v.high fat, but good energy boost. Beware, very moreish (paticularly when eaten alongside the raisins).

Chilli flavoured anything – be it popcorn, nuts, vegetable ‘crisps’ . (can be high in salt in some varieties).

Oh! Love satay broad beans.

Lunchtimes are usually ‘nibbles’ for me as I love to snack, but to keep the cals down I bring lots of crunchy veg/fruit, like radishes, celery, cherry tomatoes, apple and grapes in my lunch pack. It keeps me ticking over and for me its better than a sandwich as bread tends to make me feel lethargic in the afternoon.

Keep all the snack ideas coming guys….

A full and thankful heart..

It is snack time now. 16.30 in the u.k and stomach is growling….
I think I have another pack of raisins in my handbag somewhere!

A full and thankful heart..

I’m not big on dairy products, but when I have no time and I’m at work I will eat a cheese stick (Monterrey Jack w/jalapeños).

Other snacks I love:
- cherries
-large crisp sweet organic apples
-red grapefruits
-if I need something sweet bionatures’s strawberry fruit spread (no added sugar) I take a teaspoon or 2
-plain goat milk yogurt with a few tsps. of the above is delicious

-or a date or 2 for sugar craving
-kiwi
-strawberries
-blue berries

You asked about the cookies I like. They are called Aunt Gussie’s Gluten Free Chocolate Chip.

They also come in non-gluten free, and those are sugar free. Sugar free ones are sweetened w/maltilol.

Vice= Triscuits.

Healthier alternative= baked chick peas! Love them. Here’s my recipe http://dailypeptalkfromabestfriend.com/search/chick+peas

Yum! this sounds like something my mum used to make as a snack for guests.

Slight variation:

Fry onions until brown and sweet, add mustard seeds, dried chilli, salt and pepper, add the cooked chickpeas and stir well.

Really yummy eaten with flat breads as a homely party nibble/pass around dish.

A full and thankful heart..

rsarahs that sounds so easy & yummy I’m going to go home right now & try some!

Its that time of day again for me…..15.47 to be precise.

When I am hungry I am creative and suddenly start creating food flavours/combinations in my head – how very sad, I know!

I just thought of a lovely antipasti. Griddled courgettes sliced lengthways, with fresh thyme, sea salt and black pepper – not too much olive oil during cooking, just enough to cook it.
Lovely light snack on top of a little bruschetta rubbed with garlic….yum!

Will visualise as I drink my rather unsatisfying herbal tea!

I have courgettes out of my garden at the moment, so I am thinking up nice things to do with them.

Same thing would work with any veg….especially mushroom, which I love. ;o)

A full and thankful heart..

You of course are entitled to how you feel, though visualizing food combinations (in my opinion) is a wonderful trait.

Thanks Laurie…I think?
Not sure I get what you mean. I am entitled to feel hungry? or as if it’s sad? Am I reading too deeply?
Thanks for suggesting that visualising food combinations when I am hungry is a good thing – I just thought I might be obsessed with food!! lol ;o)

I was thinking of your statement “When I am hungry I am creative and suddenly start creating food flavours/combinations in my head – how very sad, I know!”
What I meant was referred to that:
..what we think about and how we judge what we think is important.
I once read a book called Nourishing Wisdom- A Mind Body Approach to Nutrition and Well Being by Marc David. While I didn’t agree with everything, there were some wonderful references to judging our habits. In part it spoke of looking at what we do as bad helps create bad.

While we all know if we don’t think enough about our behavior, it can also bring on things that we don’t want to include as part of our life or regular routines.

Though, in the case of visualizing food..with the traits of someone like yourself who LOVES delicious healthy food and loves to cook and prepare, visualization is the backdrop for lovely menus, and pleasing the senses with your mindful creativity.

Glad I make sense to Laurie!!!

Did you end up visualising a lovely day off/anniversary(?) breakfast??

A full and thankful heart..

Wheat thins and cheese. I love cheese! Cheddar, swiss, provolone, colby… it’s all good! :)

My healthy vices are:
dark chocolate

and a newer one when chocolate starts chatting to my taste buds:

deep chocolate vitatops

vitatop web site

They have bigger muffins, though the tops are great!

I like a little dark chocolate drops with a little raisins. That usually does it for me.

Really unhealthy stuff: French bread with butter and hot chocolate. Especially in this kind of weather here in CA it’s really raining cats and dogs! I haven’t seen weather like this in a long long time. My thoughts are “chemtrails” that started the whole thing.

Amy’s snacks cheese pizza
