food for energy

can anyone recomend food to give me energy ,after nearly everything i eat i feel very tired -o k with fruit/salad/soya yoghurt but most other things drain my energy .

Do you eat small meals throughout the day, or a few large meals..or just eat when you feel hungry?

I agree with Laurie – the prime reason for feeling sluggish and lacking energy is simply eating when you are not hungry or eating more than you need – this puts the body under unnecessary pressure to digest which is hard work when it doesnt ‘want’ it.

Good energy giving food is wholegrain cereals (such as oats), bananas, dried and fresh fruit, seeds and lots of water – to flush out any nasties that pull your energy down.

i now eat fruit and yoghurt for breakfast/will have porrige when its cooler
wheat free crackers and ( cheese – not good for cholesterol/b p ) or oatcakes and apple for dinner .Make soup when its cold
this is were i think im going wrong – tea time meals
Spaghhetti bolognese
pasta bake
quorn burgers ,chips,salad
qourn chicken curry and rice
macoroni cheese
pizza,chips salad
veggie mince with roasties/carrotts/broccoli
veggie mince with rice

im intolerant to wheat /potatoes and tomatoes and a vegetarian ( all above are veggie mince/chicken substitute.) and its mainly after tea i feel so tired ,i do eat a fair size meal as well .
Dont often eat much in between ,maybe apple/banana/
Stopped bisciut binges in bed morning and evening
I drink tea,water and sometimes home made fruit juice .

As i cook tea for myself and 2 lads – one veggie ,one not ,its easier and cheaper to have the same but the intolerances could be contributing to my health probs couldnt they .

hi Anoushka ,how are you doing .
looking at my post to Laurie i think its tea meals thats the problem ,i fall asleep often in the evening .I think i need to replace pasta,potatoes,pastry with things like brownrice ,and maybe invest in a wok as stir fries are easy arent they ,will increase water as well and replace some teas ,with herbal ones .This fast is a good time to sort out things like this isnt it – how are you doing with it ,would be lovely to join on that beach with Mary wouldnt it ,love flowergirl
