Humility is a core value of mine, since I learned to tame down my ego, arrogance and defensive nature. Just by viewing the world and its people from the simplest angle allows you to see the goodness and most fundamental values of a person, place or thing.
Humility is about stripping things back to basics and not letting external factors influence your judgement – i.e its not what you know its how and when you choose to use it.
To me, humility is a slower pace of thinking, a more thoughtful and simpler attitude and knowing that it is not necessary for everyone to be, think, or feel the things that you do at any given moment.
Humility is knowing that other opinions are neither right nor wrong, just different….
What does it mean to you….? And more importantly, how has it helped you view or handle a situation in a more appropriate way?
A full and thankful heart..

I like the point you raised, that not everyone has to agree with you..
Wonderful thread..Looking forward to its development with everyone.

Great post Anoushka. I’ve had the same challenges myself. As children their are many who have not had the good love of their parents and will do anything to get attention. Including hurting others to make themselves feel better. Maybe that’s why I sing to feel accepted. Taming down helped me but I still do have issues I need to work on. Humility is not wanting to be better than someone else. We all want recognition for the good we do. If we are confident that is not necessary.
Humility is having a virtue God gave you and not bosting about it. Accepting something that society looks at with negativity. A dress from the thrift shop, shoes and clothes that do not have designer labels. Cars, homes in certain areas.
Humility has helped me to have a much simpler life style with less headaches. It made me look at what’s important in life and that is the love of those we love and our fellow man.
Blessings,
Mary

Hello GC! I love your last sentence which I believe speaks to the essence of humility. I am trying (and it’s not easy) to get rid of a lot of stuff which I thought I wanted and needed. I am happy thinking of how free I will be when my physical life is simpler. Easing into a new improved life, Jan:)
