’5 easy tests -goals[LifeCoachOnTheGo.com the 5 easy tests to explore how meaningful your goals REALLY are! excerpts of article 5 Easy Tests

So, here are the 5 easy tests to explore how meaningful your goals REALLY are!

⇒THE EXCITEMENT TEST: A really obvious place to start is to ask, “How would I score my level of excitement about this goal, on a scale of 0 to 10 (where 0 is ‘absolutely not’ and 10 is ‘totally stoked’)?”
If your excitement score is less than 8 – ask what’s getting in the way? What stops me from being excited? Then think about how you would address the obstacle before asking again what your excitement score is. Repeat until your score is 8 or more out of 10 (and if you can’t get it to 8 – why are you bothering?).
⇒THE NOW TEST! Do you REALLY want your goal? Ask, “If I could have my goal now, would I take it?”
If the answer to this question is yes, great! But if the answer is no, or you’re unsure – ask what’s getting in the way? Do you have a limiting belief? Is it really your goal in the first place? What are you afraid of? What might you lose and gain if you achieved your goal – and how do you feel about that?
⇒THE PERSPECTIVE TEST. Imagine for a moment that you’ve achieved your goal AND you’re 10 years in the future. As you look back, what would you tell yourself today?
This question explores how your life might be different 10 years after achieving their goal. Really feel into the question. Are you encouraging yourself or not? What are the consequences of achieving your goal? Does achieving your goal flow and fit into the plan you have for your life?
⇒THE FORBIDDEN TEST! Ask, “If a law was passed that said you’re FORBIDDEN to have (your goal), would you fight for it – or be relieved?”
This question finds out if you’re willing to fight for your goal. If you’re ready to fight for it, GREAT! And if you’re relieved – it may be time to ditch the current goal and find a simpler/more meaningful goal! And remember, it may still be a good goal for you, but you’re just not ready yet.
⇒THE PERSONALITY TEST: First ask, “Who do you need to be to achieve this goal?” Then ask, “Do you like this person?” and “What DON’T you like about this person?”
These 3 questions look at whether you have issues with the person you’ll need to be to achieve your goal. If you’re uncomfortable with who you need to be, it’s going to be difficult for you to achieve your goal – until you address this. These questions are also great to explore the attitudes and supportive habits you may need to develop to achieve your goal.
In Summary: Use these tests to help you look inside and ensure you’ve picked goals that are truly meaningful to you. And remember, when you’re truly committed to goals that are meaningful to you, that’s when you persevere with them through thick and thin – and have your biggest successes.
