60's and 70's music

There are a lot of classifications of music on this site, and remembering where certain songs are located or even where to put them is sometimes difficult because of music overlap-> So guess what here’s another music thread! This site is just in case you’re looking for a time, rather than a type. If you want to include a little history with the artist and song, feel free to do so. If you can keep some kind of categorizing going on, it would be great on this thread. Then if you find more of the same, you can go back and edit and keep a running list. Hope you enjoy!

The Hollies singing He’s Not Heavy He’s My Brother

Lyrics of He Aint Heavy He’s My Brother

The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows where
But I’m strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother

So on we go

His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We’ll get there

For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother

If I’m laden at all
I’m laden with sadness
That everyone’s heart
Isn’t filled with the gladness
Of love for one another

It’s a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we’re on the way to there
Why not share

And the load
Doesn’t weigh me down at all
He ain’t heavy he’s my brother

He’s my brother
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother

Good insight on the Hollies posted by Paul D. Schneider on a blog I found. Here are some excerpts: – known for: “three-part vocal harmonies.
-THEIR SPIRIT: On a spiritual level, the music of the Hollies offers an optimistic, often joyful view of life that reminds us that love, despite the occasional complication and setback, is the source of true happiness. .. the Hollies offered listeners a more optimistic, positive view of life that lifted our spirits and showed us a world as harmonious and energetic as the band’s best songs.

I am not sure when Bubble Gum music hit the scene, but it was music no one admitted to listening to, but probably hummed to when it came on the radio.Heres some from from 1970. Hey I was in Jr. High..gimme a break(:

Mid to Late 70’s
Peter Frampton

Baby I Love Your Way

Shadows grow so long before my eyes
And they’re moving across the page
Suddenly the day turns into night
Far away from the city but don’t hesitate
‘Cause your love won’t wait hey
Ooh baby I love your way every day
Wanna tell you I love your way every day
Wanna be with you night and day

Moon appears to shine and light the sky
With the help of some fireflies
I wonder how they have the power shine shine shine
I can see them under the pine
But don’t hesitate ‘cause your love won’t wait hey
Ooh baby I love your way every day
Wanna tell you I love your way every day
Wanna be with you night and day uh yeah

But don’t hesitate ‘cause your love won’t wait
I can see the sunset in your eyes
Brown and grey and blue besides
Clouds are stalking islands in the sun
Wish I could buy one, out of season
But don’t hesitate ‘cause your love won’t wait hey
Ooh baby I love your way every day
Wanna tell you I love your way uuhh
Wanna be with you night and day
Ooh baby I love your way every day
Wanna tell you I love your way uuhh
Wanna be with you night and day

WHile we are talking about songs, does anyone have any songs they find really charges them up? There are two I remember that always charge me up and make me feel good. Mickey Mouse CLub march (original) and the theme song from Laverne & SHirley. ANyone got any others?

In response to dinkledorfer’s post:

And as far as music that charges me up..lots. First off you’re an original, I like your choices(:
Along the lines of your songs how about Mary Tyler Moore

Though, a song that comes to mind beyond TV is Samba Ti by Santana for me

I remembered another good one! It’s from How to succeed in Business without really trying. Keep in mind, he is singing to himself in the mirror when he does it. Ha! It’s called I believe in you! STand in front of a mirror and sing that one and see what happens to how you feel?????

In response to dinkledorfer’s post:
here’s the lyrics:

Now there you are.
Yes, there’s that face.
That face that somehow I trust.
It may embrace you, too.
Here me say it.
But say it I must,
Say it I must

You have the cool clear
Eyes of a seeker of wisdom and truth,

Yet, there’s that up turned chin
And the grin of impetuous youth.

Oh, I believe in you,
I believe in you.

I hear the sound of good
Solid judgment whenever you talk.

Yet, there’s the bold, brave spring
Of the tiger that quickens your walk.
(roar, roar!)

Oh, I believe in you,
I believe in you.

And when my faith in my fellow man
Oh but falls apart,
I’ve but to feel your hand grasping mine
And I take heart,
I take heart.

To see the cool clear
Eyes of a seeker of wisdom and truth,

Yet with the slam, bang, tang
Reminiscent of gin and vermouth.

Oh, I believe in you,
I believe in you.
