Enjoying the ride

We had lived in our previous place for over two years, but moving the other day made me realize just how flexible we are. Despite having quite a bit of furniture and a hell of a lot of random stuff, it wasn’t all that difficult to just up and leave.

It’s only really been two days, but we’ve already pretty much settled into the new place. We’ve found a home for most of our belongings, made use of a few of the local services, had friends over for dinner and if you’re reading this now, even have our Internet hooked up.

I think the flexibility is a good thing.

Whilst we’ve never had fantasies of white picket fences, we have previously dreamed of the owning our own home. So much so that if it wasn’t for some complications we would be sporting a mortgage of several thousand dollars and a unit right across the road from the place we’ve just moved out of.

Not that we’re planning on changing our mind about this place. It’s small, but it couldn’t be in a better location and perfectly suits our current lifestyle ideals. Our lives have kind of revolved around this area for some time now anyway.

We do have plans to move on in the not too distant future, but for now we’re both really happy with the new place. The flexibility I speak of will allow us to easily move between the chapters in our lives, and fits in with how we’d like them to read.

We’ve got an end in mind, we’re just making sure we enjoy the ride.
