Does the meditation quiet the mind chatter?
No…not completely…but when you relax into your meditating you will find that chatter not making so much difference. It slows down and you will find yourself feeling SO much more content and peaceful…
I try to mentally image beautiful scenes, like quiet forest scenes with little flowing water brooks…just sitting there, peacefully, just BEING there… Telling myself I am calm and peaceful and relaxed helps, too…
So does something as simple as “Everything is alright…absolutely everything is alright.”
Trust yourself to find the right calming things to say that you enjoy.
