Over three years ago, I purchased a peppercorn medley that came in it’s own refillable grinder. It has followed us around ever since, being refilled hundreds of times with numerous peppercorn varieties.
Although it wasn’t the most aesthetically pleasing pepper grinder, it was the same size and brand as all our other herbs, fitting in nicely with our little collection, and for most of it’s life, it worked just fine.
Recently though, it has been a source of mild frustration. Aside from looking a little worse for wear due to the workout we give it nearly every single day, it was beginning to lack more than a little in the grinding department.
It was taking far too long to pepper my sandwiches.
For weeks now we’ve been searching for a suitable replacement, looking also for a matching salt grinder to feed my latest addiction, freshly ground sea salt.
We weren’t willing to shell out for the new none-refillable variety of grinders, so the supermarkets offered no relief, and the home-ware shops didn’t have anything I had any faith in. Seasoning is an important part of every meal and I don’t want no half ass grinders breaking down on me.
We went into Myer today, looking for something completely unrelated, when we strike gold. The best looking, most functional, original and funky salt and pepper grinders we’d ever seen!
Cole & Mason do just one thing, and they do it really well. They’ve got a host of well designed salt and pepper grinders, but none are quite as nice, or functional, as the ‘tap’ grinders that we now proudly display in our kitchen.
I could go on about their lifetime guarantee, their anti corrosion nylon mechanism or the high quality, crystal clear acrylic. But, I know you’re just dying to know how they perform, and I’m happy to report that they’re by far the best salt and pepper grinders I’ve ever used.
