anyone taken codiene meds

hi ,i know this isnt really about affirmations so i hope its o k to ask .Has anyone taken meds with codiene in especially codiene phosphate .I have been looking back trying to pinpoint when i last had any energy ,and did not feel this foggy ,dozy ,out of it feeling .My youngest son is nearly 18 and i was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis before he was born .Was put on loads of meds including
1) codiene phosphate
2) asacol
3) lomotil
4) oral steroids
5) steroid enemas
6) various painkillers inc tramadol,distalgesic,paracetamol
and others i cant remember ,also had 4 units of blood after a haemorage due to being given anti inflamatory meds for arthritis which i should never have been prescribed .
i still take
1)
2)
both 2x daily
3)as needed
5)as needed
and also had 2 blood pressure and an anti acid reflux meds added
6) only paracetamol x8 a day

The codiene is prescribed to help with the diarrea -was 25-30 times a day honestly without treatment, and as a painkiller .I have cut it down so slowly to half the amount i was taking but as im wondering if that is the cause of this awfull zombie feeling i would love to get off it but as it helps control the bowels its scary .I have started wondering if im developing alziemers as im so forgetfull ,unable to concentrate ,and in this dozy state but thought i would look at lifestyle etc for any clues .I realise im probably addicted to the codiene after so long but would love any ideas ,suggestions ,experiences

I work in a field, where I can get your quest answered. I will tell you right off the bat, you are taking meds with expected side effects.

If you want, you can email..but please include the names of your bp meds.

Give me until after the weekend, and I will respond with some useful info.

hi Laurie ,thanks ,the b p meds are ramipril and amlodipine .I wou;ld love to be off them all eventually butthe codiene and depression/tiredness do seem to be linked .You are so helpfull ,love flowergirl

hi Laurie ,i hope im not a pest .Just come back fromg p and she has added a water tablet as my b p is still too high although lower than last time ,its called bendroflumethiazide tablets 2.5mg daily ,we discussed codiene and she said tocut it down to 3 a day which makes it 90mg a day ,she agreed it could contribute to lethargy and blocked brain feeling .She has also refered me for counselling to help with supporting my daughter and for the depression so an o k visit over all .

thats o k Laurie , i am here

some things felt can be exacerbated by being on medications that may alter blood pressure, mood and equilibrium (dizziness)

BE YOU

If you are feeling dizzy..that is always something to check out. Something you already know about medications..they come with a lil’ price. When is the last time you saw an ad on TV for a drug? What did you notice beyond the happy person who was taking it? They list a long line of possibilities.

So yes dizziness can definitely occur.
Just be safe, and discuss basics with your doctor. It is important that as a patient you try to be part of the health care team, by finding out what you can.

Also talk to your local pharmacist. They are often more versed than some physicians.

I hope knowing meds can cause dizziness didn’t alarm you. Hope it just made you feel better that with your doctor/pharmacist’s help you can monitor things

BE YOU

I am so proud to add to this thread that I have not taken codiene for about 3 months .My stomach has been fragile but with homeopathic remedy ,peppermint oil tablets it is now settling .

I’m now down to 2 bp pills a day
2 asacol a day
4 paracetamol often just 2 first thing.
an acid reflux pill last thing
and lopeeramide if needed

getting nearer to my dream of no pills

Wow! More evidence of you not only doing wonderful things for you, suceeding in doing wonderful things for you, but it takes love for yourself to make big changes! This is powerfully great! yaay you!!!! much love and respect as always, selfcare

BE YOU

thanks Self care ,it was a bit scary going out at first especially on buses etc in cse my tummy didn’t behave but that’s getting easier .

I feel more mentally alert now – probably why I’n so vocal on here !

I have loads I could say about this, but I’ll try to keep it ultra short. I’m 37 and been in a wheelchair since 96. I Od’d on heroin. Have had several NDE’s in my life. Was on a daily regime of 18 different meds at one stage, including all sorts of analgesics, antidepressants, blood pressure meds, ulcer meds and on and on and on. These days I take nada, zip, nothing whatsoever (apart from multivitamins and omega 3’s). In 2009, I had a bit of a revelation. I stopped all my meds, one by one mostly, and started relying on my own body to heal, stopped relying on outside sources. Since then, I’ve learned much. Have you heard of Kundalini? Kundalini is an energy reserve that every human has. It’s dormant in most people but can be activated in times of life threatening stress. This activation usually causes extreme lethargy due to the increased hormone production that it triggers. I’m thinking that this could be happening you.

edduffe ,thank you for your honesty and I’m sorry you have been through such a rough time .

One of the ladies at our reiki share mentioned about Kundalini ,I will find out more about it .There is a lot of stress in my life especially as my daughter is ill ,you could be right about the lethargy .

Thanks again ,take care of yourself ,love flowergirl
