I love songs that stir my soul. Here’s a few that make me think or move! I may be older but I still have pep in my step! I am also a person who likes to see everyone in this world be filled with happiness, love, health, housing and food. Advocacy is my love.
Yah mo b there
The Weight
I’ll take you there-my favorite
Baby I love you
Another day in paradise
One tin soldier-heavy lyrics

Thanks for sharing The Weight, I’ve always liked that song but never bothered to find out who did it. Here’s another video with The Weight
“I’ll Take You There” is a great tune too. Actually, I enjoyed all of them.

I have one for you Godscreation:
He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother by the Hollies
Lyrics of He Aint Heavy He’s My Brother
The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows where
But I’m strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother
So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We’ll get there
For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother
If I’m laden at all
I’m laden with sadness
That everyone’s heart
Isn’t filled with the gladness
Of love for one another
It’s a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we’re on the way to there
Why not share
And the load
Doesn’t weigh me down at all
He ain’t heavy he’s my brother
He’s my brother
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother
˚ I AM joy of clarity, being & doing

Because I am latina I love this song because it has “more soul then they can con-trol”!
Little latin lupe lu
GC, I didn’t know you were Latino! Is that the right way to say it? You’ve inspired me! I’m going to post some Latin-flavored stuff that I dig. Latin-flavored is a pretty broad term, but I love how free I can be in posting. I hope you enjoy these.
Santa Esmerelda’s long version of Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood
Of course, if I post that then I have to post Nina Simone’s Version
Here is my favorite Gipsy King’s song: Montana
I actually got to meet Al DiMeola many years ago. Passion Grace and Fire
Here’s a Korean dude that MUST have some Latin blood in him somewhere. Bobby Enriquez Spain
Here is Herb Alpert’s A Taste of Honey
Here is the beautiful Children of Sanchez vocal version. How can you not LOVE this?
And I just had to post Maynard Ferguson’s Conquistador and La Fiesta
Sadly, today, Septermber 12, 2012 we lost Andy Williams, so here is Andy Williams and Andonio Carlos Jobim doing Girl from Ipanima
Come on everybody let’s do the Conga
Now then, let’s groove to Los Del Rio’s La Macarena
Now this one is definitely Hot, Hot, Hot
The Ecstasy of Gold by Ennio Morricone. Just one of many if could post by Morricone.
Ever heard of Ottmar Liebert? Samba Pa Ti
How about John McLaughlin? Que Alegria I got to see him live also many years ago.
Here is a little Paco De Lucia for you. Entre dos Aguas
Here is a Latin dude singin’ some stuff by another Latin dude. Nessun Dorma Are there words that do this justice?
Marcos Valle Guanabara
Roberto Poveda Sueno Mama
Alacran Reflejo de Luna
Mundo Livre S.A. Meu Esquema
Paula Morelenbaum Um Cantinho e voce
If you look up Latin in the dictionary, I’m not sure what it says, but it ought to say Passion. What word combines passion and romance?

Lyrics:
Sometimes I lay under the moon
And I thank God I’m breathing
Then I pray don’t take me soon
Cause I am here for a reason
Sometimes in my tears I drown
But I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds
I know someday it’ll all turn around because
All my life I been waiting for
I been prayin for
For the people to say
That we don’t want to fight no more
They’ll be no more wars
And our children will play
One day
It’s not about win or lose cause we all lose when they feed on the souls of the innocent blood drenched pavement keep on moving though the waters stay raging and in this life you may lose your way, it might drive you crazy but don’t let it phase you no way
Pre-chorus
Chorus
One day this all will change
Treat people the same
Stop with the violence down with the hate one day we’ll all be free and proud to be under the same sun singing songs of freedom like…
After I went to bed last night I thought to myself, WOW, I forgot to post any Santana! Almost instantly I thought, Lauri will!
And what about Sergio Mendez?
Mas Que Nada and Never Gonna Let You Go

There are a lot of good songs on youtube by a band called Calexico. I think some of you would like them. Two Silver Trees All the Pretty Horses are just a couple.

Sing All Our Cares Away by Damien Dempsey is one of the most stirring songs I can think of.

great piece of music
Flowergirl introduced me to this song…I had to share it on the thread for music that stirs the soul
[links workin’ now from GodsCreation] (:
That Morning Side song make me think of Johnny Mathis.
The Celestial Magic on was stirring too! Made me think of the movie Excalibur.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWlcRvVFXq0
Here are a couple I’m sure I’ve posted somewhere before.
First is Sing A Powerful Song
SING A POWERFUL SONG by The Saw Doctors
When the troubles of the whole wide world Come knockin’ on your door
And there’s problems of a different kind That you’ve never had before
When you’ve played against a gale force wind
And it changes at half time
And you find your strength deserting you
And an emptiness inside
When there’s people that will harm you
Though you’ve done to them no wrong
It time to sing, it’s time to sing, to sing a powerful song
When they want to ruin our province Just to turn it into gold
When they think our greatest asset
Can be mined, dug up, and sold
When the factories are all closin’
Like they are in our home town
And your friends are lookin’ out for work
That’s nowhere to be found
When the sprits they need a risin’
To be happy, proud, and strong
It time to sing, it’s time to sing, to sing a powerful song
When the sprits they need a risin’
To be happy, proud, and strong
It time to sing, it’s time to sing, to sing a powerful song
And here is one that always grabs me deep down inside.
It’s called Sing All Our Cares Away by Damien Dempsey.
Sing All Our Cares Away by Damien Dempsey
Mary loves the grouse, hides the bottles round the house,
She watches chatshows and the soaps, broken-hearted but she copes,
Michael’s out of work, feels he’s sinking in the murk,
He’s unshaven and a mess, finds it hard some days to dress
Stevie smashes the delf, ‘cause he can’t express himself,
He’s consumed by rage, like his father at his age,
Rita’s little child, has a lovely little smile,
This means nothing to her father, because he’s never even seen her.
We sing, sing all our cares away
We’ll live, to fight another day
Joey’s off the gear, he’s been clean for half a year,
He gets bored out of his mind, but he’s tryin to toe the line
Maggie’s in a chair, ‘twas joyriding put her there,
She puts the kettle on the boil, and she’s always got a smile
We sing, sing all our cares away
We’ll live, to fight another day
We sing, sing all our cares away,
We’ll live, to love another day,
We grow strong, from it all,
We grow strong, or we fall,
We grow strong, from it all,
We grow strong, or we fall,
We grow strong.
