“You find peace not by rearranging the circumstances of your life, but by realizing who you are at the deepest level.” ― Eckhart Tolle

DISCERNMENT food for thought…if you choose
• Are you learning you can know something? Are you becoming more discerning? Who are what are you attempting to satisfy and in turn block your inner guidance? How has your “knower” been treated lately? Have you doubted it
...exchanged it for the “wisdom” that wasn’t meant for a particular thing you knew ? Are you learning the difference between ego driven understanding & life giving wisdom…that you “know”? Do you fight “your knower” to exchange it for persuasive well meaning summations from others? Have you been able to discern if someone’s experience and the way they use information is meant for you? continued blessings w/loving kindness & respect, selfcare

►• The Power of Now Summary
►• Video Finding Your Life Purpose
►•You are not just a meaningless fragment in an alien universe, briefly suspended between life and death, allowed a few short-lived pleasures followed by pain and ultimate annihilation. Underneath your outer form, you are connected with something so vast, so immeasurable and sacred, that it cannot be spoken of – yet I am speaking of it now. I am speaking of it now not to give you something to believe in but to show you how you can know it for yourself.☼author Eckhart Tolle

o ►...only through the letting go of resistance, through becoming “vulnerable,” can you discover your true and essential invulnerability.★ღ✰˚ ✰。˚Eckhart Tolle
_________________________________________________________________________
►• The word enlightenment conjures up the idea of some superhuman accomplishment, and the ego likes to keep it that way, but it is simply your natural state of felt oneness with Being. It is a state of connectedness with something immeasurable and indestructible, something that, almost paradoxically, is essentially you and yet is much greater than you. It is finding your true nature beyond name and form.☼author Eckhart Tolle

►• The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive. To put it more accurately, it is not so much that you use your mind wrongly — you usually don’t use it at all. It uses you. This is the disease. You believe that you are your mind. This is the delusion. The instrument has taken you over.
_________________________________________________________________________
►• Be present as the watcher of your mind — of your thoughts and emotions as well as your reactions in various situations. Be at least as interested in your reactions as in the situation or person that causes you to react. Notice also how often your attention is in the past or future. Don’t judge or analyze what you observe. Watch the thought, feel the emotion, observe the reaction. Don’t make a personal problem out of them. You will then feel something more powerful than any of those things that you observe: the still, observing presence itself behind the content of your mind, the silent watcher.
_________________________________________________________________________
►• Even a stone, and more easily a flower or a bird, could show you the way back to God, to the Source, to yourself. When you look at it or hold it & let it be without imposing a word of mental label on it, a sense of awe, of wonder, arises within you. Its essence silently communicates itself to you and reflects your own essence back to

►• You are here to enable the divine purpose of the universe to unfold. That is how important you are.’
Eckhart Tolle
_________________________________________________________________________
►• So the single most vital step on your journey toward enlightenment is this: learn to disidentify from your mind. Every time you create a gap in the stream of mind, the light of your consciousness grows stronger. One day you may catch yourself smiling at the voice in your head, as you would smile at the antics of a child. This means that you no longer take the content of your mind all that seriously, as your sense of self does not depend on it.
_________________________________________________________________________
►• To the ego, the present moment hardly exists. Only past and future are considered important. This total reversal of the truth accounts for the fact that in the ego mode the mind is so dysfunctional. It is always concerned with keeping the past alive, because without it – who are you?
_________________________________________________________________________
►• Enlightenment means rising above thought, not falling back to a level below thought, the level of an animal or a plant. In the enlightened state, you still use your thinking mind when needed, but in a much more focused and effective way than before.
_________________________________________________________________________
►• The reason why the romantic love relationship is such an intense and universally sought-after experience is that it seems to offer liberation from a deep-seated state of fear, need, lack, and incompleteness that is part of the human condition in its unredeemed and unenlightened state.
_________________________________________________________________________
►• Love is a state of Being. Your love is not outside; it is deep within you. You can never lose it, and it cannot leave you.
_________________________________________________________________________
►• True communication is communion―the realization of oneness, which is love.
_________________________________________________________________________
►• Through forgiveness, which essentially means recognizing the insubstantiality of the past and allowing the present moment to be as it is, the miracle of transformation happens not only within but also without.
_________________________________________________________________________
►• Identification with your mind creates an opaque screen of concepts, labels, images, words, judgments, and definitions that blocks all true relationship.
_________________________________________________________________________
►• Be at least as interested in what goes on inside you as what happens outside. If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place.

►•To end the misery that has afflicted the human condition for thousands of years, you have to start with yourself and take responsibility for you inner state at any given moment. That means now.

►•For what you do to others, you do to yourself.

►•Instead of asking “what do I want from life?,” a more powerful question is, “what does life want from me?”

►•If there were nothing but thought in you, you wouldn’t even know you are thinking. You would be like a dreamer who doesn’t know he is dreaming. When you know you are dreaming, you are awake within the dream.

►• Nothing ever happened in the past that can prevent you from being present now; and if the past cannot prevent you from being present now, what power does it have?

►•Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at this moment.

►• You cannot be both unhappy and fully present in the Now.

►• Whenever an answer, a solution, or a creative idea is needed, stop thinking for a moment by focusing attention on your inner energy field. … When you resume thinking, it will be fresh and creative.

►• All the things that truly matter — beauty, love, creativity, joy, inner peace — arise from beyond the mind.

►• If I cannot live with myself, there must be two of me

►•Thinking and consciousness are not synonymous. Thinking is only a small aspect of consciousness. Thought cannot exist without consciousness, but consciousness does not need thought.

►•Forget about your life situation and pay attention to your life. Your life situation exists in time. Your life is now. Your life situation is mind-stuff. Your life is real.

►•Not all thinking and all emotion are of the ego. They turn into ego only when you identify with them and they take you over completely, that is to say, when they become “I.”

►• Space has no “existence.” “To exist” literally means “to stand out.” You cannot understand space because it doesn’t stand out. Although in itself it has no existence, it enables everything else to exist. Silence has no existence either, nor does the Unmanifested.

►• Always say “yes” to the present moment. What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to what already is? what could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now? Surrender to what is. Say “yes” to life — and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you.

►• Why does the mind habitually deny or resist the Now? Because it cannot function and remain in control without time, which is past and future, so it perceives the timeless Now as threatening. Time and mind are in fact inseparable.

►• What a liberation to realize that the “voice in my head” is not who I am. Who am I then? The one who sees that.

►•“How” is always more important that “what.” See if you can give much more attention to the doing than to the result that you want to achieve through it.

►• The secret of life is to “die before you die” — and find that there is no death.
►• To the ego, the present moment hardly exists. Only past and future are considered important. This total reversal of the truth accounts for the fact that in the ego mode the mind is so dysfunctional. It is always concerned with keeping the past alive, because without it – who are you? ☼

A New Earth is one of my favorite books. It really helped me. I mean it. It really did help me. Have you ever been in a traffic jam and started getting frustrated and angry? I remember being stuck in a traffic jam after reading that book. I started getting frustrated and a couple of minutes later I was literally laughing out loud. I was laughing at my own thoughts. It was wonderful.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

I too like much of what he says in his books. Right after reading any of them, it can’t help but induce new behavior and probing questions(:
