May ‘22★★Newest★★The Making of Regular (Newer)Habits

What healthy habit would you like to do more of?

What would you like to do less of?

or not at all ?

On average, it takes more than two months before a new behavior becomes automatic — 66 days to be exact. And how long it takes a new habit to form can vary widely depending on the behavior, the person, and the circumstances. In Lally’s study, it took anywhere from 18 days to 254 days for people to form a new habit. [1]

In other words, if you want to set your expectations appropriately, the truth is that it will probably take you anywhere from two months to eight months to build a new behavior into your lifenot 21 days.

Just a little sidebar here : The exception to that statistic of a month or more to develop

a positive daily habit is this: If you maintain e willingness and have a purpose for it's benifits I think you can adopt a habit in less than a week and if the incentive is rewarding and practice and you add a dash of tenacity, you will likely make it a lifetime practice, I suppose another factor is it is easy or enjoyable and not arduous like weight lifting or something that is a chore.

Just my off the cuff thought.

With so much new cutting edge info on simple breathing techniques, backed by scientific studies of the relation or connection between breathing (nasal) that's a practice that is a good free investment. Simply remembering to breath in/out through the nose (conscious breathing) as I'm writing these words is a worthy challenge. I will agree this remembering to breath during your daily activity would take more than a year for it to become second nature. However spending an hour a day on a breathing routine you like is like assisting your cells to eventually build a new you. This is all been proven by science according to breathing guru's like Wim Hoff and James Nester.

I suppose that the quote "write until you surprise yourself" makes sense now and then.

Building Good Habits

What is a habit?

What’s the difference between habits and routines?

What’s the difference between habits and routines?

The main difference between a habit and a routine is awareness. Both are regular, repeated actions. But while habits run on autopilot, routines are intentional

Routines need deliberate practice, or they’ll eventually die out. But a habit happens with little or no conscious thought.

The science of habits

How long does it take to form a new habit?

How long does it take to form a new habit?

In a study run back in 2009, researchers at University College London found that, on average, building habits takes around 66 days before the behavior change becomes automatic.

However, the choice of habit was a major part of how long it actually took (between 18 and 254 days).

In short, some habits are harder or easier to form than others.

In response to ♡ ˚ Rejuvenating For Next Level's post:

"Habits are powerful, but delicate. They can emerge outside our consciousness, or can be deliberately designed. They often occur without our permission, but can be reshaped by fiddling with their parts. They shape our lives far more than we realize—they are so strong, in fact, that they cause our brains to cling to them at the exclusion of all else, including common sense." ~ Charles Duhigg
